I made a moveable pocket from scratch. To keep it in place it is sewn onto a pair of compression shorts I had already. The compression shorts keep the rig completely secure to my leg, and are virtually invisible over my exposure suits. You can do the same thing with any homemade or store bought pocket. My biggest problem is remembering to remove it BEFORE taking my suit off.

My solution has been on two dives and no problems yet to report. So far I've only carried an extra mask and a finger spool, though. I have some ideas for the next design inspired by the fusion suit.

My idea is to remove my Fusion pockets and replace them with something better :(

I was thinking pockets with the two shell system similar to the fusion. Inner made of the codura material, and the outer made of some kind of stretchy material to keep things snug and less floppy.

The challenge of course is how to do the opening. A bungee orifice comes to mind...

That right there is the failure of the Fusion. The pockets are soft and stretchy aka "floppy" (At least on my Tech Skin LE). Therefore I can't feel them with my drygloves on. Plus as I kick all my stuff works it's way out of the pockets leaving me to have a yard sale. If I didn't have bungee with double enders and clips I would have lost a lot of gear in the crappy pockets.

Instead I like a stiffer cordura pocket that I can feel with a nice velcro closure.

After my first dive I wasn't especially happy with the pocket. Having done another 10 dives or so with it, in lighter exposure suits, it works quite well. Not much movement at all and works beautifully for holding my SMB and spool, camera, a signal mirror and whistle. Exactly what I built it for. There's a little room to spare if I want to put anything else in, but not much. I'm still not completely happy with the "floppiness" of the side walls but they work well nonetheless.

Mine are also floppy as well, which is why i considered some kind of compressing material to keep them "tight."

fjpatrum: have you made any mods to yours that keep it from moving to the front of your leg? Was that a one-time problem?

No I didn't end up making any mods. I think it was mostly wetsuit compression as I was wearing a 5mm with a 7mm jacket and both tend to compress a fair amount. When I wore the pocket with my 4/3 or 5mm in warmer water I had no issues with the pocket moving at all.
