My plan for controls is using very small and strong earth magnets (1/4" cubes)
which will control reed-switch right through the plastic wall.
No holes at all.
Magnets on the outside , reed-switch on the inside
reed-switch will be hooked to remote control inside
and you can control allmost any function of the camera.

ok I will make offer 85 bucks. Thats what it's worth to me.

Sounds like you're feeling out the market for a little cottage industry here on SB to help capitalize your machine shop capabilities. Probably not very many takers here willing to risk their money (or cameras) until you do some testing first.

What's the total internal volume of the cylinder? Trying to get an idea of the weight and stability needed to keep it neutral. Here's an idea: Perhaps include a sheet of poly about 1/2" in thickness radiused on both ends so it fit the curve flush low in the case (chamfer a little lip in the wall to hold it in place); folks could then mark and drill their own mounting stud location based on their type of camcorder. Make it much more versatile than having the camera just banging around in the center. Toss the right amount of soft weight under the mounting board and we're on to something. Also, magnets and video tape are generally not good together, so unless you have a sure way to keep them apart (like fixing the camcorder position in the cylinder - see above) partial erasure or lines in the picture are probable.

I like what you've done with the handle mounts but would prefer stainless or brass to plastic. Perhaps offer that as an option?

There's a Yahoo group open to everyone called Dive Light that also talks about homemade housings from time to time. Lots of good ideas there for the do it yourselfer.

Looking forward to 20% off my first order as my consulting fee!

Looks good - if you build (and test) it, they will come. Best of luck.

Dimensions info is in the first post ( 5.750" dia. x 5.500" inside size )
I started this project for myself and I want to sell it "as is" so somebody
can finish ( mounting board and more ) - 90% done project.

This is not something that i will make and sell to make money, it takes too much
time and effort to manufacture something like that.
Counting all the hours and material this project would be very-very expensive.

handle mounts are aluminum and powder coated, I am planing to finish it with
solid stainless steel handles ( for adding some weight to help with buoyancy )

Regarding the magnets, magnetical field of those magnet are just enough to
penetrate through the 1/2" wall, it should not effect the tape in the camera.
I is only my idea of controling the camera remotely without driling holes.
I can probably give it a shot and try to make one.

While working on this project I gathered some gray plastic pipe
size 5.700" id. x 6.700" od. that I can premachine
for your own project ( for a small price )

Having machineshop at my disposal I am willing
to help others to make their projects, anything
in plastic or metal you need for any project
I am offering my services.

What is the total dry weight of this? I would be interested in buying and finishing it if it weighs significantly less than my existing housing.

I understand that it will need ballast when diving with it, I am concerned about baggage weight.

Thanks,
