But for you youngsters watching the flic:
Fred Astaire ( the hoofer) and Bing Crosby (the Crooner) are competing for the same gal. (Marjorie Reynolds I think is her name).
In any event, she is partnered with Bing. But Fred shows up at the Holiday Inn around New Years (drunk) and dances with her. The next day, he can't remember who he was with. But Fred's agent thinks he can recognize the woman and make them an act.
So Bing, who is in love with Marjorie, puts her in Black Face, so the agent won't recognize her.
