I can see photo bugs, deep divers and spear fishers using this rig. For those types the explorer fits well with. But for the average diver I still think the price to play is too high.
I think this thing is a UW photographers dream. Besides the normal re-breather benefits, it appears to be SIMPLE, and relatively inexpensive. I'm not interested in "Tec & Deco", and doing all the "math" that goes with. I'm already "splitting the atom" on a dive while shooting and changing camera settings and adjusting strobes on the fly. My hypothetical perception of the Explorer is that it would allow me to do a dive like the Spiegel Grove, stay down (within rec limits), silently, and shoot for a good hour, instead of a 10 to 12 minute dive, at depth. Why spend $10k on a re-breather if I'm only going to dive "recreationally", when I can get the Explorer for under $5k. Not to mention, I'm already dragging $6k worth of camera down. Makes total sense to me. I'm in !!!
