Hello fellow divers...
I am looking for some information regarding a day trip to Holbox. I am aware that it is a long drive and I am aware that it makes for a long day. However, with nothing but time once we get down there, it would be an incredible opportunity.
I am wondering if once I catch the ferry to Holbox and hit the island, can I pay a local to take a few of us out and search for the whale sharks? I know there are other ways to do it, but I don't want to be on a COMPLETELY set schedule. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this? Any suggestions? I know that I will have to leave early, but if it is something that we can get out and do and get back if it all works that, that would be ideal for us. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome. Thanks for everyone's help!

Hi Mascenik,

Good for you as the day trips from off island can be grueling & sightings are not guaranteed.

Contact Ornella Alemanni ("Onny") at http://www.mawimbi.net/english.htm. Tell her I sent you--she'll take care of it from there.

Have a blast.
