I dive XTX 200's on up here in Canada in temps 34F, to in the 80's down south, and never a freeflow. I have dove in Les Escoumis, Quebec (4 dives) the water temp was just below freezing again no problems. I often dive max 160ft 30 min at depth total run time 80+ minutes for me and the types of diving I do up here with the extreme spread of temps the XTX's perform flawlessly with no change in WOB due to depth.

I cannot comment on the HOG regs as I have never dove with them.

Seems diverightinscuba.com does have a sale on HOG regulators, but seem to only have the D1 & D2 model in DIN & not yoke.

I realize you can buy a convertor, but why waste money on getting a convertor instead of just buying a single piece, solid yoke 1st stage to begin with?

it's a shame, $90 for a 2nd stage & $115 for a first stage = a great price for a quality reg.

But too bad its din.

Does anyone know the difference between the D1 & D2? On diverighinscuba, they just have the coldwater setups it seems. I would need a warm water setup.

D1 Has a rotating turret.
D2 Has no turret.

Cold water D1 1st stage, has an environmental seal;

Warm water D1 1st stage, no environmental seal;

D2 has a drop down menu for coldwater, add environmental seal; warm water, no environmental seal.

If you ask, someone might offer to change out the DIN for a yoke fitting.

Ok so is a rotating turret better than non rotating?

Is the limited all black model reg set D2? Which would mean no rotating turret?

Ok nice so only difference in cold/warm water is rubber seal. Guess it's not worth it since I really don't ever plan on cold water diving.

Who would swap out din for yoke, Diverightinscuba.com or you're saying someone here on the board?

Doesn't HOG offer yoke?

I don't see one as better than the other. Some like the rotating turret for hose routing, personally I prefer non turrets. Just a matter of individual preference really.

Yes, the black limited edition is a D2, no turret.

I'd start by talking to the people at DRIS or Hog about the possibility of having the DIN converted to a yoke.

I have no clue what they offer. Both companies seem to be oriented to customer needs though, & you never know whats possible until you ask.

Also any idea the differences in second stages between their D1 & D2 models?

Plus it seems you need to buy a $30 port plug of some kind to use the 5th bottom port?

Then once I add a yoke conversion kit it seems like it's cheaper to just get a regular yoke reg set from AL or something doesn't it?

Don't really know, but looking at them I'll suggest the only difference is cosmetic. The D2 2nd would appear to be more black than the other.

If you're using a single tank set up, the 5th port is not really necessary. Some like them for the hose routing on a set of doubles.

As I said, ask Hog or DRIS if they will supply in the yoke format. If they have a yoke that will fit, it's a 2 minute job to change them out.

Ok I'll end up getting the D1 configuration since it's cheaper. I'll buy them separate since thats the best deal ($180) since I want Miflex hoses anyways.

I just hope I like the rotating turret.

I'm going togive diverightinscuba.com a call tomorrow when they're open.

Thanks for the info.

DIN is better for coldwater isn't it? I may opt for the rubber seal to make it a cold water reg just in case I want to sell it, this way both warm and cold water divers would be interested. Since it's only $5 more and will still work fine for warm water diving right?

What you are looking at is an upgrade kit to their original 1st stages that didn't have the 5th port. The regulator now comes with the port standard and the kit isn't needed.

That's good to hear. I now realize that that port is generally for a second tank, which I won't be using as a warm water reef diving recreationally.

But it's good for resale. That's why I'm going to go with the rubber ring to have it ready for cold water divers.
