Hi cbm32!

Yeah, I can understand not wanting to fly in for the training. Last time I went to Our World Underwater was 2009. Was thinking of going this year and the fact they are having the training there is really tempting. Im currently on the fence though about the cost (tools, class, ect) and if it really makes the most sense. I am thinking that since some of my friends are switching over to HOG regs it might make more sense for the training... Will just have to share my training expense with my buddies when they ask for rebuilds! :D

I am currently planning on taking the HOG rebuild class. However, I have been thinking... At the great prices they sell the new regs for, does it make sense to buy the tools and pay for the class, or just dive them for a few years and then ebay them when they need service and buy new set.....?

Some people do that (with a variety of brands). I don't have any objection to that, it is how I've picked up some great used regs for pennies on the dollar on ebay, then rebuilt them myself!

But, I think that learning how to repair your own regs is priceless knowledge, however you achieve that goal.

Once you fully understand how your regulator works, and are confident that you can "fix" any problems that arise with just a few tools and some spare parts.... it is a great feeling, and will probably save some missed dives, or dive trips in the future.

Best wishes.
