How could anyone be afraid of them...?

how could anybody prefer blue to red?

people are different, and fear is not rational =P

i've never been in the water with them, i'm sure i'd deal. but they do look
so odd... they are in fact the only fish that i've looked at their picture
and have felt this sense of "doom" on the pit of my stomach. god knows
what memories it is triggering, or why... but there you have it.

i'd still get in the water with them and swim with them. hell, i am afraid
of public speaking, but am a lawyer.

just because you don't get it doesn't mean it doesn't make sense.

Public speaking! Now there's a fear - about the only one I never overcame.

Hey there. I'm new to the boards and wanted to intoduce myself.

My name is Tiina and I'm an 18 year old freelance fantasy illustrator. I haven't been diving much lately due to lack of diving equipment but love talking about the ocean. :) I found the board while looking for a website that could tell me the name of my phobia which happens to be the Ocean Sunfish...long story.

Looking foreward to meeting you all and joining in the discussion. :) Thank you.

Welcome ! You will love it here .

I would love to see some of your work.!!!!!

PM me with samples .....

I saw them for the first time yesterday in the Metridium Fields off the Breakwater in Monterey. My buddy thought that they were sharks!! (i guess if you saw them from a frontish angle, the "shark's tail" would be hidden, the dorsal fin might fool you & their skin looks sharklike). I didnt realize that he was scared, but once topside he said that he immediately hugged the bottom, and he went through 500 psi rapidly. I was excited to see them, although they aren't the cutest fishies.
