...since I am as guilty of thread hijacking as anybody, they usually fall into a couple categories.

And more so than most...

I am sure there are other types of hijackings people will bring up, but these are some of the main ones I can think of off the top of my head..

Don't know exactly what forum to post this in because it could be Humor or maybe non-dive related or basic Equipment.

I am upset because last night I was bidding on eBay for a Dry glove ring set that included gloves, new boots, ankle seals, wrist seals, patch Kit, inflater hose, the works...
Last 6 seconds I get outbid (sniped) and it was 20 bucks higher than I outbid anyone else. Out if curiosity I take a look at the past purchases by this bidder.
It turns out that I lost out on all this great stuff to a Rubber fetish perv.
I was getting more and more upset because I figured this person does not really know what they purchased. Ok...I had to vent somewhere.



Ok if that one word has to be moderated please replace the word instead of yanking my post...thanks

I am a little pissed about a thread that I started that recently got hijacked... but it actually ended up pretty funny.

I made a Poll: Diaphragm or Piston..,

It turned into pictures of Calvin peeing on everything...

I dont know how it got there...

You can't just go and post something completely off the wall, you have to steer it. Figure out where you want to hijack it to, then use others to help you get it there. Respond to the topic at hand, sorta; with slight trolling to get others to move it further in the direction you want it to go. Then slowly work off their posts until to shifts over to where you want to hijack it to...

It's all about subtlety. It's all about the 6 degrees of separation rule. You can get from one subject to any other subject with 6 degrees; you just have to figure out the 6 degrees...

And the pinnacle of hijacking (we do have at least one example in the archives) is when you have moved everyone away from the original topic... you then move the thread back on topic while subtley point the finger of blame for the hijack at the original poster.


BTW: Chuck.... about your thread... I hadn't been following it so I didn't know it had been hijacked... I wondered why it had gotten so many posts.
