Tobin, I simply pointed out that your "back of the napkin" calculation does not scale in the magnitude applied.

If you still think that it takes anywhere remotely close to 1100hp, then your concerns about being viewed as unqualified definitely have some merit.

I will, however, congratulate you on your club making skills, since they never seem to break, no matter how long you beat a dead horse.

Cheers,
Jon

If I was off by say 50% and *only* 500+ hp was required, or even by a full order of magnitude, and *only* ~100 hp was required does that make a "lightweight" low cost 25 mph scooter a practical project?

Seems the OP took a powder.

I know :depressed:. I was interested in knowing if the technology is Romulan or Klingon.

Without even going into the calculations I really can't imagine my arm staying attached to my body if it tried to tow me in full scuba gear at 25mph.
I still remember the pain when a helpful fishing launch tried to give us a tow at 10 knots when we getting pulled away from our dive boat by a swift current and we were hanging firmly on to the line with both hands.

ummmm... 25 mph is waterskiing speed (and is nearing competition level)..... no freaking way....

I think the idea has some merit and could be marketable. The 25 mph speed is a bit fantastic but I think the implied range of over 6 miles on a charge would be interesting if achievable. At a more reasonable 3 mph that would give two hours of time.

I think the scooter also has a cloaking mechanism.

However, I think I will hold out to see what the Borg have to offer :)

The guy was troll. Seriously - 25 or 8 miles per hour is blazing fast crazy and not not doable unless you happen to have some kind of fusiform fish shroud / fairing for your scoot and was being towed underwater by a Virginia class sub, or other. And if you've ever been tied up behind a water ski boat and got caught up in the line, or were too stupid to let go you know what 25 mph feels like. Ouch@@!W@)

I was thinking of that too but was worried Jon and Tobin would argue if a cloaking device would work underwater and if it would be even worth while being fish could still smell you and detect the vibrations of your movement.

On the issue of whether the product would interest scuba divers, I believe as described it would be dangerous.

Others have expressed something to the effect that being drug through the water by your forearm at 25 mph in full scuba gear would be undesirable. Mask pulled off, regulator pulled out of your mouth & swept back hard to retrieve, panic sets in, aim gets off, diver streaks into the deep at high speed and can't equalize and ruptures one or both ear drums or slams into the bottom or a shore wall, etc...

Sometimes, you have to look beyond the question 'Can I do this?' to ask 'Should I do this?'

No.

Richard.
