I would suggest the dive-rite transpac or perhaps a scubapro knighthawk or perhaps a zeagle stiletto. Although the dive-rite falls closer to the bp/w design than the other two.

I'd figure out your diving goals before you spend $$$.

The Apeks is nice too and has a "high-end" name. Effesub looks like Cressi Sub and does not bring to mind "high end," more like clearance at Leisure Pro.

After all these pages, I still haven't figured out what he means by "high-end."

I think he thought, and may still think despite all that has been written, and PM's between he, I and others, scuba gear was easily categorized.

My last recommendation in a PM was a BP/W from a certain well-known company, just because they're pretty good, until I realized that - whatever he buys - he wants to just put it on and dive. Without some friends, or spending time and dives with a competant shop/DM, a Hog rig's adjustability will probably be a lost cause on the divers who don't want to spend time learning. I sorta now realize that, until some proof of sefl-sufficiency and a willingness to learn is made, the original poster probably should find a BCD that fits well, then just zip it on and wear it. After all, in the threads of SB, alone, is nearly all the info one could ever ask for regarding common recreational BCD vs. BP/W, brands and models. A few hours reading threads, like so many of us have done (some exhaustingly) in our spare time, will tell a buyer a good deal about what is available and what's worth buying.

I kinda hope he doesn't go for a BP/W, now, as I don't want a diving accident on my conscience.

Wow!! I’m not quite sure how to reply to that…..

I’m deeply sorry if my question about a particular brand offended you. I’m very new to this great sport we call scuba diving and I’m still shopping for the right bcd for me. They are allot of money and just want to make sure I find the one for me.

Once again I deeply apologize for my question. and a BIG thx to all the very nice people that have gave me there professional opinion!!

If my post came off as offensive, I apologize. The problem that I see is your issue with simply wanting a high-end bc. I don't think anyone here is going to suggest something for you that is crap. However, the concept of high-end alone doesnt say much. Its like going to the auto dealership and asking for a high end automobile. What are you going to do with it? Drive offroad? Impress the clients? Drive 145 mph down a highway? You can get a high-end automobile designed for any one of these puropses.

Backing off the automobile analogy....

I mentioned it in a previous post, but check out zeagle. Good equipment and nobody will laugh at you - unless you get a zena. Check out scubapro. Check out dive-rite. Talk to the guys at scubatoys and tell them about the type of diving that you wish to do.

There is no such thing as a "high end" BC.

There is **** that works, and **** that doesn't. Both kinds come in cheap or expensive.

People here have tried to explain the difference to you. Take your pick.

Oh, and we all know how expensive it is. We own this stuff. Some of us own several BCs.

Good luck.

Yes, there is...

In the June 06 Sport Diver Magazine in an article on new gear and BCs it describes the Seaquest Diva XL as " a high-end BC for women".

:D

... read that while in the head this morning... almost fell over!

It's the beard... you have to remember to counter balance when standing back up. Just wondering... ever get that caught between the STA and the tank?
