If your regulator free flows, sometimes you can get it to stop by putting your fingers in the mouthpiece, changing the differential pressure.

Because you know where it is and you know that it works.oly5050user:.Also why give up your primary to your friend?

Fully agree. This is the most likely source of the problem, and it is very quick and easy to fix, by fine tuning the second stage. (Of course, the nice thing about being armchair regulator technicians is that we can opine with ease, without seeing YOUR particular reg. )Doc Ed:High end regs are set to be easy breathing. Just a little adjustment of the 2nd stage to make it less sensitive will be needed.
808Dude:So I am new to owning my own reg as I have been mooching off friends for long enough. I tried out a few high end ones, SubaPro, Apeks, etc. I am discoverying the more the things cost the more prone they are to free flow. Maybe being able to empty a tank quickly costs a lot more money for such a useful feature.
I settled on buying a Scubapro MK25/X650 which is really nice @100+ feet but at 15' today the damn thing will free flow witout stop. This if course is not very helpful when you take your reg out of your mouth to give to your friend who is low on air. Now you are both out. How exciting.
This is a brand new reg too. I think I was much happier when borrowing a friend's backup "old trusty" no name brand which was rock solid.
Should it get serviced asap or is this just how high end regs are and now I have buyer's remorse?
Aloha!
