I have a 10watt Dive Rite Canister Light. Fully charged and properly cycled, it intermittently works or doesn't. Last two days (after full charge) the bulb simply flickers for a few seconds and goes off. Any suggestions

In water or on land?

possibilities:

- bad bulb (try another bulb),
- wrong bulb (check),
- poor contacts (clean and sand with emery paper),
- flooded or condensation (clean and dry),
- bad battery (check with voltmeter),
- bad wiring (use other wiring to connect bulb to battery to test),
- break or worn line to light (move it to see if it cuts out),
- not 100% sealed (pressure could be moving a wire or connection),
- bad unit (get the dive shop to test it).

My 2 cents - hope it is an easy fix.

+1 for a new bulb - sounds like it has been dropped.

thanks to all I will start with a new bulb

Very interesting problem. Turned out to be the ballast. Strange thing was, with a new bulb, it worked for a while. Then started flickering again. Switched batteries. Same problem. New ballast, problem solved and good as new.

Its good to have the odd problem now and then. Thanks for posting what you eventually found.
