Welcome, emma! You can practice at Gildenburgh just down the road from you.

Was in Sharm last month doing DiveMaster at Ocean College, didn't see any sharks though!

Just got home after a harsh day at work. Combined with the terrible weather in the UK (cold, windy and raining) it makes me long to return. Much improved mood to have read all the replies posted in the past couple of days. Divers truely are a friendly bunch!!!

Want to take this opportunity to say thanks to Doozer, Martin, Sarah and Ethan from Ocean College (Club) for being brilliant instructors and dive masters. If anyone is heading their way, you're in safe hands.

If you do meet Ethan (tall, hairy Californian) just ask one thing, "What about the flotation device, Bob?".

Next job before I go back, find a wetsuit that fits. Does anyone know when the next UK dive exhibition is or recommend somewhere in East Anglia or London?

Hi Emma, Next dive show is Edinburgh, I think its pretty soon but that's a bit too far to travel. If you can hold out Birmingham will be late Sept/Oct. It is the biggest show and there are plenty of good prices, especially suits and you can get to try all types. In London there is a big watersports superstore on the embankment by Westminster station but they will only sell at recommended retail price, which is far too much. I suggest you have a look around the net for prices at say www.simplyscuba.co.uk www.diveinn.com www.sdswatersports.co.uk www.roho.co.uk get an idea of prices and go see your local dive shop. I have found that most will try to give you as close a price as they can and it's good to make contact with a local shop for reg servicing and advice.

I've seen more than my share of arm flapping. In fact, one student that I had the privelege of meeting pulled my regulator out of my mouth during his first open water session because he was panicking so much. His son hit me in the mask for the same reason. Needless to say they had to go through the course a second time.
