Just got back from doing the Open Water course in Sharm. I'm completely addicted!

I had no idea what was involved and found it both challenging and rewarding. On our second day in the water (Middle Garden) we saw a large White Tip Reef shark. I'd hoped and prayed I would see one but was aware the odds were fairly low. There was no panic amongst the group just awe at seeing such a beautiful creature.

Of course, there was plenty to see apart from sharks and we're waiting for the photos taken by friends to be sent to us.

We also did a couple of the advanced dives where it all seemed to click into place (much less yo-yoing up and down and arm flapping - does everyone do that in the beginning?) and my husband and I are now planning our return later on in the year.

As I said, addicted.......

Welcome to the board.

You are sure to find a ton of information and if you can't find it, just ask. Someone will have an answer or a suggestion. This board has quite a few experienced divers.

I agree with BigDiver..

No matter what the question, someone has an answer, comment, suggestion, or just plain opinion that will help you.

Never fear! This place is rather relaxed.

Enjoy and Happy Diving!

Welcome to the Boards, Emma!

Hi Emma,

Welcome to scuba and this infomative board from a southern neighbour. Funny I only ever seem to get to Peterborugh when I fall asleep on the train, still you do have the functional Great Northern Hotel right opposite the station when it's too late to get back.

Great place to do an O/W in Sharm and yes arm flapping is almost mandatory to start with.
