Hey all,

Just thought I would post and say hi and all.

I'm new to the sport but i have dived a couple of times in the past, once in a pool and then in open water unqualified in cyprus. Enjoyed it a lot.

Been looking for something new for a while and I'm currently studying Education and History at the University of Derby. Wanting to ideally branch my history out and get into wreck and recovery and do some real hands on history stuff.

Problem I have is I cant drive so always a problem egtting to the dives and the idea of open water scares me a little - dont want to upset any nasty fishies.

Anyone else have any similar inhibitions about open water? I can swim extremely well and am 24 next week - am I too young or too old to learn to dive?

Can anybody suggest the sort of direction i should take in training? I am trying to engage with the Padi Open Water course - although the dive school in nottingham was only semi friendly and Ive had to cancel the first pool dive i booked and rearrange it as couldnt get to the pool in nottingham (changed to sheffield).

Anybody give me any other advice? Anyone local that dives?

Thanks,

Ollie
