there is underwater Roman villas, the place where Stonehenge was carved from, a Roman fort and sunken villages. Enough to keep you busy?

Hi,

Where's the Villas ? That sounds like something our club would like to do as a change of scenery.

there's a villa off of Shoreham-by-Sea, it's in 'Dive Sussex.' The Roman fort is on the bank of the Mixon Hole off of Selsey. I can get a GPS reading for you, give me a couple of days.

Jon

Hoppy (and anyone else that's interested,)
the villa is at 50 49 07N 00 11 24W. And it's a half mile out from Wish Road, Hove, not Shoreham. You might want to try Church Rocks off Emsworth too, they're actually not rocks, but the remains of a village.

Thanks for that , much appreciated, will go do more research now. Looks like it might be a dive with a difference.

I have dived a few wrecks, mainly off of Littilehampton and Worthing. There are approximately 100 to 150 known wrecks in this area (10 miles.) If you want to get together in the summer, keep in touch, I'm diving around Selsey too. It's not just wrecks, there is underwater Roman villas, the place where Stonehenge was carved from, a Roman fort and sunken villages. Enough to keep you busy?

Jon,

The Roman villas sound good. We were thinking of also doing a dive for fossilised sharks teeth, which I know that you can do off Selsey, sometime over the summer.
We tend to only dive here when the water gets warmer, as we only have wet suits rather than dry. We also don't get to dive too often here as we have to arrange for someone to look after our daughter for the day.
I'll keep in touch, and when the weather gets warmer we'll see what we can arrange.

Welcome to ScubaBoard!

I wish my wife was a diver, but she's uncomfortable with the Ocean and shows no interest. I got her to try a little snorkeling in Hawaii and she really enjoyed it, so maybe someday in the future. But, I'll leave it to her to show interest.

Those sound like some great dive locations.

Cheers!

Christian
