Hi there DivingGal,
Thanks for the welcome.. I have a good friend up in Ontario by the name of ScubaTrish. She is a regular visitor to my Forum. Wouldn't mind spending a S/I up there.. No diving though.. I am spoiled rotten by the warm water.. Skins in the summer, 3mm in the winter..
Have a nice day..

Welcome from the Country of Texas! I know I know most of you think of Texas as a state, and it is, but more a state of mind, in the heart of any true Texan it is it's own country.....

How is the tension out there in Saudi Arabia right now DiverDad?

Yo syruss,
I have close ties to the Republic of Texas. My daughter lives in San Antonio..
In spite of all you hear on CNN and in the papers, Saudi Arabia is still our strongest ally in the middle-east..
The Saudis here know bin Ladin for what he is and if they can get their hands on him, they would chop his head off. (literaly)..
Security is tight here but it is very safe, so far..

Well it is good to know that things are safe there! Make sure to stay that way! As for them taking care of Bin Laden, more power to them but can they chop slowly?

Picture this...
In the parking lot next to the mosque there is a raised cement platform about 3 feet high. There is a 3'x4'x3' cement block in the middle of the platform. The prisoner has his hands tied behind his back and is made to kneel by this block so that his head is hanging over the end of the block. when the executioner thinks the time is right, he takes a swing like a golf club and off comes the head.. Every executioner has his own style..
Executions take place on Fridays after the noon prayers.. You really don't want to stand too close to the platform because you might get blood on your popcorn.. (only joking about the popcorn)

Hey gang,
Y'all should know that DiverDad is even older than I am.
Probably thought he was gonna sneak in here unscathed...

I guess there are no Appeals? I don't know if I agree with it totally but I think it sure beats getting a death sentence and the public picking up the tab for 4 appeals and 25 years in prison until they get offed!

For Osama and other Terrorists I'd risk my popcorn to see justice done for the world!

Diver dad,
Welcome from NJ.
Your stories of some of the local situations really underscore how different a world this is.
be well, and good luck,
Miked

miked - I agree... all we hear are media stories from the UK or US. It is interesting to hear personal views on what's happening much closer to the source.

Ernie - I hope all is well and safe in Saudi. I've got friends arriving today from Dubai and while I know nothing is going on there, I'm looking forward to hearing what they have to say about the UAE viewpoint.

As for your mention of not diving if you're in Canada, I think this immediately qualifies you as a CAD. What do you reckon, mike, syruss, DG, et al? Ernie, if you're not sure what a CAD is, check out this thread!

Yo Rick
So this is where you are hiding.. I may be older than you but why is it, that you look older than me?

Good to see a familiar face around here..

There is an appeal system.. If you cause the death of someone, either intentionally or by accident and if the deceased's family agrees, you can get off the block by paying about $25,000 "Blood Money" and all is forgiven.. If the nearest male relative is under 15 years old, you must stay in prison until he is 15 so he can then give you the "thumbs up or thumbs down"..

Sorry guys.. Didn't mean to get so far off topic here..
