Hey everyone,

I'm a resident of the LA area, just got back into diving a few months ago. Building up a group of buddies so if you live nearby and are interested in diving from boats and from shore, let me know. Also into kayaking so wanted to combine the two - again let me know.

Some places I am planning to dive this year (besides SoCal): Hawaii, Baja California (sea of cortez and pacific side), Belize, maybe Washington State. Still in the planning stages, so glad to hear any recommendations, or places to stay away from!

Welcome to the board!

Hi there, and welcome first of all! I live in Washington State, so PM me if you think I can help ya with something!

Safe diving!

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

Check out the SoCal section of our California Kelp Divers forum. We get together and dive all of the time. You may want to go to our dive get together and BBQ on Oct. 30th. You'll have an opportunity to meet lots of dive buddies there.

Don't forget to fill out your profile and dive info, so that we can add context to your future posts. Also, once we know where you are geographically from your profile, you may find that you'll have a whole bunch of new dive buddies to choose from locally.

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or repsond to in this forum.

Howdy!

And welcome to SB - the biggest, the best, the fastest growing, and :D the friendliest!
If you'll simply click ScubaBoard.com above, you'll be taken to our long list of forums, a wealth of information and resources. My favorite is at the bottom: Singles Dive Club. In addition to the Calf forum, you'll find lots of info on your selected destiations in the geographic forums, and some group trips as well.

Completing your Profile with location and seperately - your Dive Info will help in future diving discussions. You can use the Quick Links menu above for this. Sizing a photo for your profile or Avatar can be a challenge; I'm a fumbling amateur, but I get the job done, if you'd like any help?

PM me if I can help you learn your way around; that is - click my username to the upper left, then follow the prompts to send me a "Personal Message." :thumb:

WELCOME to ScubaBoard!!
I see you've been hanging around since July.
I hope you checked the board often, and join
in the chatter, oh! and find your dive buddies.
There's a bunch here to learn and get envolved with.

Now for my stock message, which is still under construction:
This is a great place to meet people, talk about diving, and get information on just about any aspect of diving -or other subjects sometimes- that you can think of. Roaming through the forums is great help for me.
Now get wet with us and dive into the forums to ask questions, answer those that you can and even chat with folks about diving dreams and nightmares. ScubaBoard is a great place to spend your required Surface Intervals.
When you post a question, be as sure as you can that it's in the right forum or you'll probably find it moved.
The folks here are passionate about their diving, some about their specialty, so the reading can get very interesting, sometimes very hot.
Don't forget, if you haven't already done it, to fill out you profile as completely as reasonable, it'll save you being asked and having to repeat the information often.
Enjoy!

Tom

Welcome. :luxhello: As Headhunter said, come on down to the Club (it really isn’t) section and check out the Kelp Divers, SoCal section. There you will find dive reports of recent dives and a place to look for local dive buddies or ask questions about SoCal diving. The people there are great and you will enjoy yourself. Just watch out for that Pasley, oh wait!..... that’s me, errr ...never mind. :joke:

http://www.sandeaters.org is also a good place to go. Not a club, just an internet site with a calendar of dives scheduled for every Sunday at 08:00 AM. If you are there, there may be, strictly by coincidence, other divers, and if you happen to dive together.... They also have dive site descriptions and an e-mail list you can join. The e-mail list allows you to contact the whole list with a “Who wants to go diving Corral Beach Monday at 7:00 pm" type of message.

I rarely dive, but if you want, I could be talked into going. I have not been since last Monday so I am about due for another one. But with the rains it looks like Saturday will be the first divable day (wait 72 hours following rain due to bacteria counts) and that will be the Wrinkles dive in La Jolla, San Diego. I will be there. You will learn about the Wrinkles dive in the Kelp Divers SoCal section. After that I won’t be diving again until Monday 01 November.

Welcome to the board Rebekah. Like the others said check out the CA kelp divers forum and post a little blurb in our roll call, kinda like a directory for us SoCal divers. Most of my diving's in SoCal, so I can't help you too much with the travel info. but there are plenty of others here who can.
