I’m approaching retirement and wife informed me I needed to have some hobbies.
Always enjoyed snorkeling but couldn’t equalize fast enough or stay down long enough to really appreciate events unfolding.
So picked up scuba last year and am really enjoying it, just not much of a quarry diver. But it is a great excuse to go south for sun and warmth.

Make sure to fly when you leave Indiana. I’m convinced your section of I-70 is the worst section of road in the entire Milky Way galaxy.

No argument from me! Fortunately I’ve got most of the potholes between my home and the airport mapped out. Unfortunately, someone goes out each night to make new ones!

Sounds like a perfect reason to dive. Warm water, better visibility, and no need to wrestle with thick wetsuits. Glad to hear you're enjoying it. Retirement with purpose and sunshine sounds like a win to me.

@IndyJack

Come on down to Florida. We have some great diving.

Please don’t blame me if you sell the house there, scale back on the clutter and buy a townhome here in Florida close to the water.

You’ll know you’ve gone native when you buy a golf cart for quick trips to the grocery store.

Congrats on nearing retirement. I retired in 2012, which is when my dive count started going up. I got certified in 1998 with Indy MPH when we were getting ready to take our first trip out of the country to Grand Cayman - did checkout dives there. Next dives were in 2005 in St. Croix and then started diving every year. So far, my only diving has been outside the continental U.S. (generally Caribbean, Hawaii, Cabo) - no quarries, except when I was in college and we went for non-scuba diving activity! France Park (quarry) has been recommended by acquaintances, but I can't see myself getting in less than the warmer, clearer water I have become accustomed to.

I've been lucky to take trips where I can also dive.

lol IndyMPH is my shop, planning on my Rescue diver cert at France Park next month! But the goal is definitely wamer and sunnier dive locations.
