Hi,
I'm a newbie to this amazing world of diving, so I am here to suck up all the info. I can.
I decided to take my open water prior to my trip to Australia. So I started it here in Vancouver, but was too chicken to try the cold water, so I finished it by referral on a 3 day liveaboard on the outer Great Barrier Reef, (left from Airlie Beach, Aus) I hear it's not the best diving in the world, but I thought it was absolutely the most incredible experience ever, so I did more diving out of Cairns. Oh, and I think Australia is the most fabulous place! (going back for sure). On my return I donned a drysuit and braved the cold Vancouver waters and discovered a different diving world. So I took my Advanced OW, and am starting my Rescue Diver next week. There's no stopping me now. I plan to keep on going.... I am hooked!
Look forward to finding out about other's diving experiences and great places to dive.

welcome aboard!

some very good diving you are doing there; i'm a bit jealous

Hey, another Vancouver diver. Welcome to the board. There is plenty of good diving around BC you should explore.

Hi guys and thanks for the welcome!
I do plan to check out all the diving around Vancouver. I hear it's great around the Island too. I will admit though, I do prefer warm water diving, but until I get another chance to go tropical I plan to log dive after dive after dive here to gain the experience to move on to DM eventually. Lucky for me I have a couple of keen buddies already, one of which has a boat, making things easier :)

Howdy!

Welcome to SB!!

Welcome Aboard. We are glad to have you!!!! Keep checking the board. A lot of good information. I'm addicted!!?!!?!

Welcome to the Board. I remember flying into Vancouver - the best entry statement to a country you could ever see! Don't forget us here out in the West of Australia - great diving here too.

Welcome overboard.

Believe it or not, some world-class diving is right outside your front door.

Welcome to the wonderful world of "bubbles". You sound like I did back in August of 2003 when I got my OW Cert. I've now logged 71 dives, have SSI Master Diver Cert., Stress & Rescue, etc.... I enjoy the local quarries here in Pa., but also love the Cooper River in South Carolina where we dive for prehistoric Megalodon Shark's Teeth and other artifacts. The hours and dives sure add up, especially when it's fun. I'll be going to Yap & Palau in Oct. and can't wait. Welcome to the group!
