Hello from north Alabama. It's a drive to the gulf shores from me but with some decent quarry options closer I'm working to get back into the hobby with pretty easy weekend trips available otherwise. Originally certified in 2005 and need to get more dives in now. Just finished the online portion of the refresher. Would ultimately like to do nitrox and AOW.
 
Welcome to ScubaBoard. Recreational diving is a travel hobby for a lot of us. Nitrox and AOW will come in handy.
