I am pretty new to the diving scene and only have about 18 fresh water dives so far. All Central Texas lake dives. Can't wait for my first trip to the caribean. Did my open water cert in Aquarena Springs in San Marcos, TX. Visibility is fantastic but dive area limited. Anyways, I am just excited to be diving anywhere I can right now. Hope to do my advanced very soon. C-ya

Hi Mike and welcome to SB, great place to get all that dive talk off your chest.
Plenty of divers from Texas here on the board, DandyDon should be along shortly to give some good pointers.

Hello Mike, welcome to Scubaboard! If I can assist you in using Scubaboard, feel free to contact me via PM (Private Message).

Just in case you haven't found it yet, do follow this path to our :newbie: forum: ScubaBoard.Com > Scuba Diving Central> New Divers & Those Considering Diving

And of course, since you're down in the part of The Lone Star State with diving, do check out: ScubaBoard.Com > Regional Travel & Dive Clubs> North America> United States> Texas Swamp Divers

I saw the mermaid shows at Aquarena Shows in 1965, then did the two day Scientific Diver course there last year. Really neat. Pricey, but if I live there - I could dive every weekend as a volunteer, free air and all. Good way to work on perfect buoyancy control. :thumb:
