Hi ... whoever is out there. I'm still new to scuba diving (got certified about a year ago) - got addicted ... been divinng a lot for a newby ... taking classes a lot so I can dive (have no buddy in my immediate neighborhood) and good friends who dive are experienced divers (don't want me along yet) ... this is my first online board ... my first post ... hmmm ... I'm sure there are a lot more firsts. Hoping to get one or two more dives in before the snow flies. Aloha from Tahoe.

Welcome.

Do an Internet search for dive clubs in your area. JOIN!

That's the best way to find like-minded, geographically desirable dive buddies.

Welcome PowderGal to Scubaboard. If you have not yet done so drop down to Unites States, California Kelp Divers and NorCal and give a shout out. There are many divers who enjoy diving with newer divers and given you are over 50, you are not all that new.

Truckee is a bit of a drive from the ocean and is 5840 feet in elevation, which of course, like the no fly time, triggers a no drive home time following sea level dives. So that does hamper your ability to ocean dive. But you appear to be getting your share of dive in. If you find yourself in the Los Angeles area, give a shout out and we will get wet.

Thanks everyone! I look forward to learning a lot on this board and get to diving a lot more.

Welcome! I share both your addictions...

BTW, my sister-in-law is a Truckee area resident. She is a a ski instructor/lives at Northstar and is also a certified diver. Gave up the corp life in the SF Bay area about 4 years ago. She loves it.

Hey aquanex - maybe I know your sister-in-law? Or we probably have mutual friends/acquaintances - I'm a P/T ski instructor at Squaw! I left the San Jose area 12 years ago - traffic is much better here. :-)

welcome aboard
