I am a new diver and am considering puchasing a dive computer. I will be going to Bonaire for a week this summer. I'm not looking for a wrist computer, i prefer a console but there are so many out there to choose from. i don't need all the extras that many of the advanced consoles offer right now. just looking for a starter console w/digital depth/deco time/dive time etc. i understand that many factors go into choosing a computer/console but i am also on a budget so making a decision is a little difficult. thanks

Do you own your Octo-reg? A console computer has to be a part of that, you know? I like the Oceanic Versa Pro, cheap from Leisure Pro, but don't even think about Air only! Get a Nitrox puter, which will do both; you'll either be glad when your diving gets more serious, or you'll get more for it when you quit.
