Thanks everyone! He's SOOOOO cool. He's doing so well.
Mom is doing great, all the IVs are out and she's up and about. She finally got to see him this morning and has been back about every hour on the hour. She still starts to cry everytime she sees him both from joy and from how small he is. Mom gets to come home Thursday or Friday, but he'll be there (more than likely) till his original due date of Dec 4th. They said IF everything goes well we might have him home by Thanksgiving.
I have to go back to work tomorrow, but I've already warned the nurses that I have them on speed dial and will be calling for hourly reports.
I took a print out of this thread in to her this morning and even tho she's not a diver, she was really cheered up by how many responses came back so fast.
Now I just have to get out for the 1st annual "Jack's Birthday" celebration dive.

Again, thanks for all the well-wishes and keep them comming, they're working!

What a beautiful, tiny miracle. It is amazing how a tiny baby can fill up your whole heart with love & awe. They are amazing...in every way.

Congrats to Mom, Dad & baby Jack

For the rest of his life, someone will ask him if his real name is Jack, or is it John!

That's because you can never have too many Johns around the house, especially if there are women living there.

Norcal: Congratulations. I assume from the excitement Jack's your first. Well, hang on, cuz it gets even better. But I remember clearly the day our first was born, except for the few minutes the doctor tells me he made me sit down and stop hyperventilating.

I'm envious. Now you have all those great years ahead of you. All I've got is a 6'5 lunk who beats me at golf and most everything else. But I wouldn't have missed those growing years for the world. All the best.

Jepuskar: No danglies???? Fer crying out loud son, the baby's name is Jack. He's supposed to have the danglies. 8)

ALL THE BEST WITH YOUR NEW BUNDLE OF JOY!!

Babies are amazing little creatures.... You just gotta love them. My youngest son was born a little early also but he weighed 5 lbs and I thought that was small. Well our prayers are with you and your family keep us posted on how that little furry guy is doing.:D

ONe more congratulations go out to you and your family!!! Its obvious that Jack was given to two wonderful people who want and love him very much!!!

Just a little thing....mom may have a tough time of it when she goes home without him. I know I did for the first few days. Just be there for her and love her bunches when you are at home until Jack is home with you. Its going to be hard but it will be forgotten once you are all under the same roof!!!!

Hugs and kisses to that wonderful little man of yours! And happy thoughts and lots of prayers to mom and dad!!!

Hi Everyone-

This is Mrs. NorCal and I just wanted to tell you how overwhelmed I am at all of the supportive and encouraging responses Eric got back from all of you. What a great bunch of people!

I got home from the hospital today and YES....it was (and is) ridiculously difficult to come home without my son in my arms! We have not even been able to hold him yet and it is killing us. But he is doing really well and is fiesty as all hell (just like both of us) so we are encouraged by this. Eric has been incredible and I could not have made it through this without him.

So again, thanks for all the well wishes and kind words....and for welcoming your newest little diver into the world with opened arms!

Congratulations Mom, although we men all realize it's the father who has the worst of it.

You can't show us a picture of the little squirt and then not keep us posted on the important things like the first time he pees on his dad during diaper duty. That's a primary sign that he's well on his way to manhood. Of course there are other secondary symptoms best left to the menfolk to gloat over ... er, discuss.

A word of advice. Whenever things get a little hectic around the house now, send the big boy in yer life off diving. He'll just get in the way at home, and we never get anything right around babies and housework anyway.

Feel free to call if you need any tips on child-rearing. I supervised the work my wife did with ours, and they turned out great. Did I mention that she says I'm an insufferable chauvinist? 8)
