is there anyone on the here on the board that uses one? if so what condition or how you use it.

the reason i ask is that this summer i will be working at a boyscout camp on possum kingdom lake (west of Ft worth) it would mainly be used as a way to keep me from getting burned and then for working on the surface while teaching (snorkeling, etc)

let me know

The Microprene would be fine for that. I wear mine at lake sessions when the temp is warm enough. It is about a 1mm suit, so be aware of overheating in the Texas sun. Just get wet often.

P.S. - I was at Constantine many years ago, was Camp Director at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch for seven years in the 90's. Got to work at Philmont when I was a teenager.

Still go out to Sid for scuba demos during the summer.

Hi Scubatooth,
The "microprene" is a a good 1mm wetsuit . The "thinness" is the reason for its comfort, fit, and relatively small amount of thermal protection.
I have worn mine in Cozumel and Grand Cayman during summer trips. (water temps 82+). Between dives, I would at least roll down the suit top, or take the suit off. (air temp 85-90)
Two things :
1) Even in those temps, after a few days of "4 dives a day", I needed more thermal help, so I added a 3 mm vest over the suit.
2) After several days of multiple dives per day, the knees in the suit seemed to get "baggy". This corrected itself when the suit was completely dry .
If the conditions fit, it's a good suit.
take care,
Mike

I have used my Microprene on my last trip to Micronesia (water temp = 80 degrees).
It is a good, comfy suit. I think it's 0.5 mm.

thanks for all of the infromation.

from the water temps you are saying its a good suit in the 80's (im taking that you mean the mid 80's +) that surprise me a little bit because last summer when the water was in the low 80's i was in a shorty and was alittle bit onthe cool side, maybe with this being a full suit it will help retain the body heat better.

thanks for al;l the information, and keep it coming

Randy

are you still active in scouting ? were /are you a scouting professional ? well SR2 is a camp that i went to for my first summer camp as a boyscout. ? do you remeber a troop that at the end of the week had a big water war with ballon sling shots, etc? from circle ten? well it should be good working on pk this summer i know the camp director and buz manager personally and have worked with both in the pastso it should be good)

also if you didnt know that some of us from the board are meeting at pk on 5/31-6/1 (pm me or check the TSDT forum, if you didnt know)

In the water, you should be comfy. Sitting on the dock filling out blue cards is where you'll get over-heated.

I'm going to have to send you a PM and figure out if you were there when I was Camp Director.

I'm going to try to get to PK on the 5/31-6/1 weekend, watching the boards.
