i posted on the Asia forum but no responses so I will try here.

We are planning a honeymoon dive trip in July. My fiancé is a new OW diver. I'm looking for great muck diving that isn't too difficult for a new diver. Where is a good place to go with great diving, good weather in July and a nice upscale resort? Please help.

thanks
Ken

Lembeh resort in Lembeh/North Sulawesi. Pure muck, you can't get better.
Gangga island resort nearby Bangka / North Sulawesi. Mix of muck 'n' reef diving, Italian flair for the restaurant and Swiss precision for the organization. On a personal scale, the best dive resort I've been diving with.
Villa Markisa in Tulamben/Bali. Black sand clear muck, corals and hey... its Bali!

This July is Ramadan, so it will be best vacation within the Christian and Hindu areas of Indonesia, and really only the most popular tourist destinations will remain in full swing. The good news is North Sulawesi and Bali diving will be up and running as usual. Also note the last week of the month will lead into Idul Fitri which is not the time you want to be traveling as most of Indonesia hits the road to be with family.

I would look at Bangka in Sulawesi, a nice mix of luck and reef. Another option is Bali around Amed. There are quite a few very upscale properties and great diving appropriate for your fiancé.

No luxury on Bangka...no muck either. But tons of sand flies. YMMV

Another done-it-all diver who's speaking about what he doesn't know.
Gangga island resort, no luxury eh? No muck around Likupang, right? Does Paradise Pier ring a bell to you?

Just came from Bangka, was a bit of a hike to dive the Paradise pier from the island. My comment was directed at Bangka specifically if you read it again. Great diving but very basic accommodations.

In my 5 times (or was it 6) in Bangka I never missed Paradise pier : Do you call 15 minutes boatride a hike???
So yes my mileage -probably pretty much higher than yours on Bangka- varies.
Peter Sponge, 5 mins from Sahaung, Is it a ride for you too? Busa Bora coral rubble parts, almost a shore dive, etc.?

Luko, no need to get aggravated about me expressing my opinion. Diving in Bangka was very good, but there are no luxury accomodations there. Gangga resort is not on Bangka but on nearby island. Any particular reason you are directing hateful comments at all my posts on SB?
