Hi! I desperately need help with a replacement battery for my Tusa Imprex IQ400 dive computer. It uses a 3v lithium 1/2 AA made by VARTA.

Dive season in Ontario begins in 2 week's time & I am at my wit's end looking for this battery. I've called several battery specialty stores and most have informed me they don't carry this battery anymore.

More than a few have told me they have it and will be ready for pickup in a week or two. Then weeks later they try to feed me some story as to why it has not been delivered and perhaps I should try another store. More time wasted and still no battery.

In desperation I have emailed TUSA USA. As expected, they ignored my query :redhot:

Anyone with any ideas? :06:

I have found it difficult to get this battery here in Israel too. Perhaps you should try electronic component stores. You can find this type of battery in RS ( http://www.rs-components.com/index.html ) so you just need to find the nearest distributor.

The battery costs about 10$-15$ and you can find in the web how to change it by yourself ( http://www.dcordes.freeuk.com/suuntobattery.htm ) it will take you about 10 minutes.
Another option is to try a LDS that sells these computers, he will charge you more but will do the job...

BTW, in my Suunto FAVOR, I replaced my 1/2AA 3.0V with a 1/2AA 3.6V and the computer works fine. The 3.6V is supposed to be for computers with backlight, however it seems to work fine also with computers without light.

I went to Google and searched "Battery". Got dozens of possibilities. Good Luck

Thanks for the links. I went there but all they had were 3.5v lithiums. I've seen a few 3.5v lithiums here too but figured they wouldn't do. Now I wonder how different FAVOR is from Imprex as I can use that as an alternative.

BTW my battery has been out of the computer for months. I wonder if it has any implications to the built-in program as mentioned in the article you shared.

As always, Google was the first place I went to for the search but a 3.0v lithium 1/2AA narrows it down to almost nothing. "Battery" alone make a whole lot of difference.

I think that the Tusa Imprex is exactly the same computer as Suunto Favor. It is just the American name.
In my Favor, the battery was removed for quite a long- I took the battery with me to show what I am looking for in different shops. I placed the new one after a few weeks and everything is OK (including dive history, log, etc). I had to re-set the time and date, though.

As I mentioned, I couldn't get a 3.0V battery so I used a 3.6V and it works fine for about a year already. I use the Favor as a backup computer and I always compare its readings with my primary and everything is working fine with it.

Done. Got myself a 3.6v lithium and the computer worked! To think I was running around in circles looking for a 3v battery. Thanks Dude. :)

Hi all, new to the board. Great info here.
I found the battery at Radio Shack.
