Hey Guys,
I need some help from you guys. I am debating about where to go work and am changing my mind everyday. Here’s some stuff about myself. I am a 22-year-old male, born and raised in Canada. I have completed my DM, OWSI, and EFRI in Utila, Honduras in April of this year so my experience as an instructor is minimal. I have a degree in Marine Biology and speak fluent English and French and basic Spanish. I have a large student loan to pay off so need to make a steady income (e.g. 1000$ per month). I am looking for a somewhat long-term contract, which would allow me to get many certs. I also love the nightlife so that would be a factor to consider. Lots of stuff has gone through my mind these days. Here are some of them:
- Working on a cruise ship
- Working on a resort
- Club Med.
- Or a regular dive shop

Lately I have been thinking of Cozumel, Sharm…. So I guess the purpose of the message was to get some ideas on where I could go based on some of your experience.

Thanks in advance,
Jacques
p.s. it needs to be warm. I’m tired of that #$%#@# cold water

Try for the cruise ship or the resort if that is a route open to you. Your young so have at it

And give us an update when you settle in...

22 year old male, on a cruise ship, speaking french (lay on the accent really think)..... you could make more than just $1000 /month if you are in good shape ;)

Yeah, I was kinda turn on by the whole cruise ship idea too but you share a room with like 4 people and aren't allowed to socialize with guest on your days off. Don't like that idea. Anyways, thanks guys,

Jacques

Besides the PADI, other organizations' job boards & contacting the Liveaboard ops directly...

Also With your Marine Biology degree & languages try the following research facilities in Panama:
Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute www.stri.org (they have a great scientific diving program)
Liquid Jungle Lab www.liquidjunglelab.com
Inst. of Tropical Ecology & Convervation www.itec-edu.org

Good luck to you.
