I am a new diver and just got certified. I want to purchase our own regs but need advice I like the Mares for 1 reason local dealer services them and I have done some resurce that they are pretty good. My questions is I am looking at the proton 42 she dives for my wife and the abyss 22 for myself. I dont think they are setup for nitrox and everyone tells me I want to get cert for nitrox soon or later. Is there something I will need to add to this reg for it to be compatible using nitrox? Any help please

Nope. (At least not for O2 40% or less)

Update your profile.

Also describe where you see yourself diving.

Someone can give you great feedback about a great warm water reg, but if you live in Northern Canada and want to dive there, that feedback may not be so relevant.

I suggest going thru a local dive shop that you feel comfortable with for follow up service. I started with the Mares reg 15 years ago and now use only the Scubapro MK25/600s for alot of reasons....but these are personal choices. All the modern day regs will do fine in the waters south of Atlanta. I do suggest that you limit your purchase to balanced regulators only.

every regulator can stand to 40% O2, it does only from the money a difference whether you a Nitrox regulator do not shop or!
If you must want!to, however, to 100% O2 you the regulator O2 Clean allow to do.
By the way, the regulators you enumerate are very good and nothing lets you talk into other!
