Hiya,

I live in Bozeman, Montana and cannot get a nitrox course here. Do not want to waste vacation time reading, is there a place I can get most of a nitrox course done on line? My next trip is a 10 day live aboard in Palau, late Nov and I would like to get at least the bookwork part of this done before I go.

Thanks,
Deb

I think you can do the PADI discover EAN online which allows you to dive nitrox with a divemaster or above supervising.

You could do the regular PADI class without spending much time on vacation. Get the book and do the reading and reviews at home. Then it would be pretty much watch a video and take the test, wouldn't take much time.

Check with whoever's running the boat. When I went on a dive vacation last year, the op did the PADI course for a trivial fee, basically a pass-through of their cost, since they realize that many folks do want to be able to do nitrox.

Thanks for the advice, looks like the SDI website requires an actual person to complete it; no one near here, and yes, I know I can do it when I get there but would prefer to spend my time diving, eating and sleeping, 6 dives a day does not leave a lot of time for anything else. Especially when you add on the jet lag getting there. Would like to get it over with before I go. It is not rocket science so there has to be a way to do this.

When I recived my OW cert I took the test in the firt hour of class beacuse I was so well prepared.

and many liveaboards cut you a deal on Nitrox if you get certified with them.

1 hour video, one hour test, if that. Just means 2 surface intervals you don't get to nap. You have to come up sometime. :)
