Hello guys, I have been lurking this forum for many months. I finally got my open water certificate yesterday. It was so exciting. I went diving in Channel Islands. I have an amazing instructor, and bought some great gear that I feel comfortable with.

I recently bought a Suunto Zoop Novo. I brought it with me on my final 3 dives. I need help figuring the no deco timer out.

I made a few dives, the deepest was 50 feet for about 30 min. The entire time I was expecting a "no deco timer" to appear displaying how much time I have depending on my depth but as you can see from the photo I took of my Zoop underwater, it doesn't display anything. The other parameters such as depth, dive time, max depth and temp appeared but I didn't see a count down timer. It was bothering me because I got into the habit of checking my pressure, depth, and time but I also want to check how much time I have left before I'm in Deco.

I know the picture is blurry, but at the top you can see my current depth which is 21ft. The middle is empty, It doesn't show any timer. Just says "no deco time". The bottom shows my max depth of 27ft, to the right it shows my dive time of 20min.

Any advice?

Thanks

I have a different ZOOP but it only shows the NDL when it gets short enough. If I have a few hours of NDL left it does not show the NDL. Happened last weekend when I spent some time at 20 ft. ZOOP never did give me NDL. My Aeris showed several hours. Your model may do the same.

You likely have it in gauge mode (does. Have you yet perused through the manual?

disregard (see below)

Missed the Novo part...2nd time I've done that this summer...

Im pretty sure I was not in gauge mode.I set it on "air" mode before I jumped in the water and that is when It became activated.

Thanks for responding. It could maybe be that I was too shallow and not deep enough for DCS to matter? is that what you are saying?

My D4 (which uses a similar algorithm) will not display an NDL unless it is less than 99 minutes. I believe the Zoop does something similar. Although if you were at a depth of 50 feet, your NDL should have been less than 99 minutes.

So if your dive was in the 30 to 45 foot range, it's very likely your NDL was greater than 99 minutes. Read the owner's manual, it should give you the exact limitation on that part of the display. If you dive below 50 feet and it still does not display an NDL, then there's a different explanation.
