any progress report...how have you made out??

Sorry, that you had a bad experience. Unfortunently I feel that you have an instructor that lacks professionalism and tact. I would get another instructor one with patients and one who enjoys teaching. I can see that there may have been some concerns that your instructor may have had however, he/she should have helped you overcome the obstacles, not put doubt in your mind about your diving ability. Would'nt it be nice if all students came to us with all the skills needed? I am a corporate instructor and it is my job to see the obstacles that a student faces and come up with a plan to help the student overcome them. I have to agree with some of the others I would find another instructor. It would be difficult for you to stay in the class since the instructor set an already negative precedence. You will doubting yourself and more worried about what the instructor thinks then concentrating on your skills as you should be.

there are two sides to every story, he never said if the instructor had already shown him this stuff or not. I will avoid saying things that could be construed as disrespectful, but there is the possibility that this was a last resort of an instructor after a student failing to demonstrate ability. I can't imagine that an instructor with the training they have, would tell a student to think about quitting if they had not already been shown several times. I know this is an old thread, and we likely won't ever hear from the thread starter again anyhow.
