Heading to Akumal/Cozumel next week for our first ocean dives. I had decided on my
.05 mm skin for the trip, but the weather is looking like scattered showers and low 80's to upper 70's for our stay. My other suit is a 3mm and now thinking I may want it???

I'm a large framed guy and don't get cold easily, but all my dives thus far have been in a heated pool or a hot spring so no experieince to rely on. Were already going to be crammed and don't want to bring both.

Thanks in advance for any input.

If you are doing 2 or more dives per day for more than 1 day, bring the 3mm suit. Your core body temp drops each day and the more dives you do. Plus it is better to have the full body coverage to protect against any unexpected contact with coral or critters. I never ever dive in less than a 3mm, but then I dive dive dive my whole trip. :D

It's easier to cool off than to warm up underwater. Take the 3 mm.

Take the 3mm. You can thank us later :D

I dive in both cold and warm waters. Definitely take the 3mm if doing multiple dives. You can always peel off the top during a surface interval. Stay hydrated and have fun.

Thanks for the input!! I packed the 3mm.

If you find yourself getting a little too warm in your 3mil, just stretch your neck seal and let in some cooler water.

If you're planning on doing the cenotes I would take the 3mm, the water is colder in the cenotes.

Thanks again everyone, the 3mm was perfect for the ocean dives. Water temps were 77-78 on all the dives.

Chocoholic- We did Dos Ojos for our last dive and definitely would have been cold without it!
