So......Hi y'all. (I'm actually a yankee, but that word has made its way into my vocabulary.)

I'm in Nashville for a postdoc job in biophysics research. This place is not really for me - I must get myself closer to the ocean!! Anyone near the East Coast wanna hire a physicist?

Anyway....I'm ever in search of dive trips and new dive buddies/ friends!!

As a relocated Yankee living in Tx it's real easy to pick up the "Y'all" and the "fixin" to do something!! Can't help you much with the job problem - but good luck getting back to some real water!!!

HI Hydrophilicity ,

First of all WELCOME to the Board.

...and second VERY interesting name you have. It has a cute & clever (sort of way) twang with it.

In concerns of you being stuck in Nashville you can always relocate to absolutely Beautiful Vancouver, B.C.
Bearing in mind the hobbies you appreciate, you would probably fit right in. If you like, in the morning you can Scuba and then in the evening you can ski. All within 45 minutes of this amazing City, by the way the #2 City in aaaaaaaaallllllll of the world. The night life is pretty good as well, if that's what you also aim for.
Regarding your job, I know that jobs within your industry are plentyful. As you should know Canada certainly appreciates their environment and while looking through the Help Wanted ads there is always a few of them which relate to your field.

Just a thought.

Anyways good luck to you in finishing school and findind what you want.

If you are ever in this side of town there are a few of us on this board that live here. Just drop us a line (on this board) and we can take you to some really wonderful dive sites.

By the way Hydrophilicity (sp?),

I am a transplanted Yankee myself. To tell you the truth, and I know this does not sound very positive, but I don't think that I would ever want to go back to the home.
Here in Canada I find that the life style seems to be more of an European background. What I mean it is so much more relaxed. Now don't get me wrong as I am sure that I will get lots of negative feedback from my comments. U.S of America is also especially beautiful but when compared to Vancouver there are huge differences. Maybe one day you will have the opportunity to come and see for yourself.

Anyway, take care & goodluck!!!

Welcome Hydrophilicity ,

You need to seek the ocean!! I hope that you find it soon. Enjoy the board and have fun in whatever you do!!

Hi,
If your ever in Boston, let's go diving. The diving is great if you can get over the temp of the water. There's Draper Labs in Cambridge for working.

Jen,

Nashville is a wonderful place once you get used to it, but living near the ocean is great too. My folks live in Nashville and I go there all the time, but I live in Panma City Beach Fla. The water here now is about 82 degrees and about 100ft of Vis off shore. If you ever want to come diving drop me a line, we dive most weekends, weather permiting, all year long. I just signed up for this board and this is my first post. Say Hi to Nashville for me.
