Man, you lucked out! Nudibranch AND eggs, woohoo.

Thanks Max. Great diving away from the shore. We hit the Palawan and Hermosa Reef this morning.

Palawan was dark, but we had 15-20 at 100-120'. The water was murky at Hermosa Reef for the first 20-30', but vis was an enjoyable gloomy 20' on the reef.

Can anyone give me a positive ID on the egg mass looking thing to the left of the Spanish Shawl? If you don't know, don't guess. This tread doesn't need to be 3 pages long. :eyebrow:

Thanks.

As Maxbottomtime says, they are the eggs of the Spanish Shawl nudibranch. Here's a picture of a SS in the act:

I saw about 15-20 different spanish shawls on the green pier pilings in Avalon harbor. There were lots of eggs all around them, too. I wish I had had my camera, but can't take pictures and dig in muck at the same time. :(
