I am hoping someone can give me some feed back to this...well here it is.
I went on line and booked 4 tickets from SAP to Roatan. Had problem because my bank flagged a purchase for out of country. After they called me I went back on line to book but was only able to get 3 tickets. I had my daughter go on another computer at the same time and came up with one...
well when we both hit purchase the 3 went throught but the one didn't.
Now we have 3 tickets and the one with her name we didn't get. Of course I can't leave a teenager in a foreign country over night. Does anyone know what they will do about letting her on the plane and one of us staying behind? Or has anyone had any luck with being able to get on the flight once they are there?
Any reassurance would be great at this point for a mother that is about to loose her mind!
Thanks,
Lynn

Your best option is to get on the phone to SOSA, who are the only other operator to fly that route. When TACA is full, they usually mean it.

It is also possible that the flight is actually only full from SAP to LCE or it may be full from LCE to RTB, so if SOSA doesn't have a flight from SAP to RTB you may be able to get a flight with TACA to LCE and then switch to SOSA for the LCE - RTB leg or vica versa.

Also if your arrival time works it may be doable you could get a TAXI from SAP to LCE then fly or ferry to RTB.

That is basically all the choices you have. I know a pilot named Celine who you can contact on +50498186969 he may even let YOU fly it! He only speak spanish and the plane seats three passengers with VERY little luggage (Cesna 172)

PM me with details of your arrival time in SAP and the flight you have three tickets for. I have alook for you.

The problem is getting from SAP to LaCieba... I can get a flight from LaCieba to roatan at 5:00 but our flight dosen't arrive until 1:40 and I don't think we can get there by taxi... do you have a number to SOSA?
Our times changed a little on our arrival but I think about 1:40 sounds right... We are booked on flight 150 I believe.
Any thing would help..
thanks so much,
also I hope they are going to allow me to change the name as I a NOT going to leave my daughter alone.. hopefully they will understand....

I can't get throught to any of those numbers from here.
Flt P4#065 Depart San Pedro Sula (SAP) 2:30 pm - Arrive La Ceiba (LCE) 2:55 pm (Mon to Sun)
Do you think we would have time to make that flight....i guess it will have to be me or my husband.

Does anyone know what they will do about letting her on the plane and one of us staying behind?
That's likely not going to happen there. Name on the ticket is generally the person that needs to fly. Needing to be fluent in Spanish might also be an issue there. Maybe you could contact TACA now and change it to her name?

The last Galaxy ferry leaves La Ceiba at 4:30PM. It would drop you in Dixon Cove where there'll be dozens of cabs to take you wherever you're staying. Anywhere from there s/b $20 or less except the far East End.

Later edit:
[-]Someone posted here about a reliable driver between SAP and LCE - I think it was $50pp. [/-] Won't work, it's a 3hr drive. I found the thread but it doesn't have any better options than we're discussing here. http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/4085402-post5.html Read the next post in the thread also.

Or maybe one of you can change your ticket to LCE and take the ferry over with her - assuming your daughter can still book SAP-LCE. Although I think it's a tight connection (it may be Utila I'm thinking of though) I think Hedman Alas (bus) also runs between SAP and LCE. I'm pretty sure that requires an overnight somewhere though also. Another issue is that I've heard inbound customs/immigration at SAP can be really slow. It is on Roatan.

You may want to stay inside overnight yourself also in SAP

The problem is I can't get in touch with anyone on Taca to change the name on the tickets. The only number I can call answers in Costa Rica and they can't do anything with Honduras...
what a mess!
She is 19 and I will not leave her.... i don't have a problem with me staying over. I know we can't make the ferry and I can just stay over in SAP. There is a Intercontinental Hotel and I work for Holiday Inn so the rates are cheap... I just want us all to arrive together...
Thanks

If you were able to cancel your 3 flights with TACA and book all four of you on the SOSA flight they may well wait for you, since they time their departure to meet the AA flight. However waiting for just one person is less likely. Its a tough one, hopefully Steve's option will work out for you.

Thank you sooooo much. I went on SOSA's website and was able to get her a ticket on the same flight as us..go figure. Paid a little more but cheaper than one having to stay over night in SAP and the hassle of it all.
You guys are awesome and can't wait to meet you. We will come by the dive shop and dive with you on Sat. 20th..
Can't wait.
