Here's the situation.

Got a great deal on a Mares Semi dry.
Got a Large. Fits ok but the length is for 5'11 - 6'1
I'm 5'8

Tried to fit into a Med. but that didnt work.

Everything fits ok, but I have "extra " wetsuit in the leg
area that is bunching up.
Should I get a different wetsuit that fits or try to get this one tailored, or just live with it.

P.

If the wetsuit legs bunch up because they are too long.. everything doesn't fit OK. Keep looking for a wetsuit that fits. Don't mess with tailoring. Different mfgs have different stock cuts. Go custom if you need to. An ill-fitting wetsuit will make your diving cold and uncomfortable.

I agree that a well fitting suit is always perferable over an ill fitting one. That said, you have the suit so you might as well use it. It the ankle seal fits, try folding the "extra" under the the upper portion at your calf. It might work, if it turned out that it is ungainly then get a new suit that fits.

Sounds like you and I are the same size. Maybe a few more pounds
than we'd like? Some manufactures offer a size "LS". That's what I
have. It's the same as an "L" but for someone who is our hieght.
I have two Body Glove full suits in size LS that fit well. My 7MM
suit is almost a "semi dry" in that almost no water gets in. They
use a soft unlined neoprene on the wrists and ancles that make
a decent seal.

As soon as you go for paying to modify a suit you may as well
go for full custom. Full custom costs only $100 more then off the
rack You would have to pay almost that for any modification.

Modification is expensive because you can't simply cut a few inches off the legs. If you did the ankle diameter would be to large and the knee patches to low.
