For those of you who are challanged by conversions:
1 meter = 39 inches = 3.25 feet
1 inch = 2.54 cm = 25.4 mm
1 statute mile = 1.6 kilometers = 5280 feet
1 atmosphere = 1 bar = 14.7 psi = 101 kilo pascals = 760 torr (mm Hg) = 29.9 inches Hg
1 cubic foot = 28.3 liters
1 gallon = 4 quarts = 8 pints = 3840 mililiters = 3.84 liters
(so 3.84 liters/4 quarts = .96 liters per quart, close enough to 1 for practical use)
1 kilogram (mass) = 2.2 pounds (weight) = 9.8 Neutons (force/weight)
And the most important conversion of all:
average price per gallon of Gas in the US: $2.79
average price per liter of Gas in the UK: 117.9p or 1.179 British Pounds (GBP)
currency exchange rate: 1.514 USD/GBP
Which gets us to: 3.84 liters/gallon * 1.179 pounds/liter * $1.514/GBP = $6.84/gallon of gas equivelant
so...cost of Gas in UK adjusted to dollars: $6.84
Iain, You pay way too much for gas...
