Heya Matilda, welcome to the board.... Your far braver than me to dive in that cold (brrrrr) weather.. If it drops below 70f I don't go in... lol...

Glad to have you aboard!
Cheers,
Vickie

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

That's some dedication you've got! Congrats on the new dry suit certification! Sounds like it will come in handy. :11:

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or respond to in this forum.

You know, Matilda - certifying in those sea conditions, after finding the lake frozen over, is pretty impressive! :medal: Especially after your Instructor told you -"Don't breathe through you regulators above surface. If you do, they will freeze. And yeah, you have to inflate your vests manually, or you will just have a chunk of ice in your inflators..." And in a dry suit, no less, which is a buoyancy challenge in itself! :voskl1:

Then, I looked at your Profile, and learned you did all this at age 15?! My hat's off to you, young lady!
:wave-smil

I'll watch for your posts around the forums, and I hope you'll be with us a lot. And if you'd like to get your family to bring you over for some 80F/27C diving, I think you'll like that, too.

Swedive:
Hello everyone! . . .
Anyway, my name is Matilda and I'm from Sweden and I got my NAUI scubadiver/drysuit certificate his weekend!

My first dive out:
-"Don't breathe through you regulators above surface. If you do, they will freeze.
And yeah, you have to inflate your vests manually, or you will just have a chunk of ice in your inflators...
WELCOME to ScubaBoard!!!
Good signature line; I haven't taken my drysuit class yet, I'll do my best to remember your instructor's advice when I do.
I have been reading through this board for about three months now and every day find a new wealth of information. I have also been in direct communication with many very nice and knowledgeable people.
Happy to have you with us!

***I don't want to go on too much about your age, but to go through training in the conditions you write of at fifteen, I am very impressed!***
Some how your age escaped me when I read your profile and when I first read DandyDon's second post; I can only imagine I missed it because of the conditions of your dive training.
I hope you continue to have that much love and dedication for diving your whole life!

Tom

Wilkommen, No worries Matilda, gimme a call some time -I can be to Stockholm in about 3 hours on RyanAir and for about 20 Euro- I'll break Ice with ya.
Aqua

Thanks for the greetings.
The reason I took my licence here in these conditions is because I think you'll get better training here compared to warmer waters. My dad acctually wanted me to take my licence in Thailand (we're going there in 10 days!!) but after looking at my sister, who took her licence in thailand, I see now that she wouldn't be able to last a second in these waters.

Thinking of the fact that you can dive in the conditions you are trained in and better, my choice was simple. I'm also planning to get the advanced scuba as soon as I get more experience, and more money.. ;)
