Hello All!
Well, this is my hello, I guess. I'm a 23 year old new diver and learned to dive in the Indian Ocean. Lucklily, I have gotten a lot of dives in and I'm AOW/EAN qualified now and looking for someone to dive with near home.

Looking forwards to talking to you soon

Amanda

Hi Amanda
Welcome to the board, it is alot of fun and I have learned a lot.
I can't help you with diving close to home but I am sure you will solve that one. Where abouts in the Inidan ocean have you dived and what was it like?
Alison

Welcome! You'll like it here, this is the most informative place to go for SCUBA on the internet. Whether you want info, humor, or spirited debate, (or sometimes all three at once!), this is the place!

Oh, and when you fill out your profile, flex those humor muscles!

Hopefully one day I'll be lucky enough to dive in the Indian ocean. Welcome to Scubaboard!

Welcome Amanda.
Vancouver Island has tons of great dive spots. Many are shore accessible so you need nothing more than a full tank to go diving. The vis is not great this time of year but wait till october and it will rival any tropical reef. There is lots to see and do.
Pacific Pro dive is your local store and there is one down near Fanny Bay but I forget the name.

Howdy, Amanda. You're just down-island from my old hockey coach, who's hiding out in Errington. I miss that guy . . .

I saw a good deal of the Queen Charlotte Straight last year, sailing out of little Port Hardy, and I noticed that even Port Hardy has a dive shop! I definitely will be returning with my dry suit - I hear that everything grows bigger up there.

I'm sure by now you've found the very active Canadian dive club and dive sites forums on ScuaBoard. There's some funny funny stuff in there.

Who's your coach. I live in Errington and it's not that big, I probably know him.

Mike Meeker is the ex-Newfie who taught me to skate and to flail at the puck (the falling down part I pretty much had down pat already). If you know him, tell him I miss his good humor and his constant razzing.

-Bryan

PS If you tell him I'm diving I bet the first thing he asks is who I've crashed into down there.

The priorities are to find the site and cause of the leak and to stop it. This is far easier said than done, usually.

He must be Howies son. Don't know Mike but I bet my wife does, she used to work at the general store.

I think that's his dad's name. I met the "old man" once a couple of years ago. Mike worked with his dad on a TV series last year which showcases his dad's hockey teaching approach. I believe it's running on one of the Canadian channels this summer, but I could be wrong.

Hey, Dave, I see from your profile that you're a deco instructor? I'm working through Wienke's texts on Deco Theory and Technical diving, and hoping to join a deco class in the next few months. Are you teaching on the island? Can you point me toward a web site? I'd love to combine a series of dive classes with a visit to Mike.

PS Amanda: I believe this is what's known as hijacking a thread. Sorry.
