I just found this board and wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

My 17 year old daughter and I recently got OW certified and we've signed up for the AOW course later in June.

I've been around water most of my life -- grew up in Hunt. Bch -- and have have snorkled more times than I can count and always assumed that I would become a scuba diver; however, I didn't expect it to take almost 40 years. Recently, my youngest daughter (17) expressed an interest in scuba diving and that's all it took to re-light my passion and motivate me to get us certified. What great fun that was and what a great way to spend time with my daughter! We have a dive trip scheduled for August in Maui and I can't wait for all the upcomming adventures.

Sorry for the long post... mostly just wanted to say hi!

Dennis

Dennis,

Welcome to scuba diving and to ScubaBoard. I am sure you’ll learn something every time you dive, and every time you visit ScubaBoard as well.

Dive well and Safe!

Hey Dennis, welcome to SB and don't worry about the long posts, it's the short ones we worry about. I was just in Tracy Saturday for a friends b-day. Had lunch at some new all you can eat chinese/seafood/sushi buffet, got stuffed.
Congratulation on getting back into the scuba world. Your daughter and you will have some great times together. SB is a great place to talk about and learn about all things scuba.

Thanks! Now is a great time to visit Tracy because in another month even the lizards are looking for shade. So far this board is great the time has really gotten away from me. I think I'll be checking in here often.

In case you haven't found it, you and your daughter both please do check out our New Divers & Those Considering Diving forum from the main forum listing, and follow this path to check in with you local dive club forum here: ScubaBoard.Com > Regional Travel & Dive Clubs> North America> United States> California Kelp Divers :35:

BTW, your daughter is also welcome to a memberships here, 2 for the price of 1. :corkysm75 But there no reason for that smilie; I've just been wanting to use it, and could never find a good disuccusion for it.

Thanks for the warm welcome! Is this an actual club or a loose association of board members that occasionally gets together? Either one is okay with me; I just couldn’t find any link to joining California Kelp Divers.

If you dive in California ocean water you are automatically a California Kelp Divers member, but of course you will have to go through the initiation and take our oath.
We will get back to you when we decide what the oath is and what form of initiation you should go through. Until then just consider yourself one. ;)
Oh and did I mention the annual membership dues? :crafty:
