I'm a new diver, and pretty much soaking up all the info I can. My husband had no interest whatsoever in diving, so I have no buddy. I still have one more checkout dive to get my cert. Gustav kinda messed things up. I guess I am looking for Local friends/buddies in the area-I live in Summerdale

Welcome to the board... My hubby has no interest either so we're in the same boat... I'm on the central west coast of FL, so if you're ever in the area look me up.. Good luck & have fun!!!

Welcome to the 'Board! My wife does dive, so I'm not in the same situation as you. But we almost always welcome more divers along when we're diving. We're in the Marianna area of Florida (about an hour north of Panama City). Let us know when you're in the area and we'll hit some of the local water holes.

welcome aboard

Welcome aboard. I miss Alabama. Great state there!!!! Anyway try going to panama city. they have a place called vortex spring. Awesome place to dive and gain experience and lots of people there so theres always some group you can join into. Most of us dont mind an extra diver!!!!!!!

Welcome to SB. Roll Tide! May all your dives be warm and clear!

Panama City and Vortex Spring are about 1.5 hours away from each other.

Welcome. You could always go to Vortoberfest in 2 weeks. You will meet more dive buddys than you have time to dive. Here is a link to the thread but I will sum it up. Most people will arrive in the area Friday night. A few will come earlier, some Saturday morning. You can camp at the spring, You should reserve a campsite. They also have cabins but I think they are booked. Saturday night there will be a BBQ. Bring what you like to eat and drink. People dive all around the area all weekend. Some stay at Vortex and dive while other hit the gulf or other springs. There will be many non-diving significant others such as my wife. Right off hand I can think of 3 others that will be there as well. Hope to see you there.

Welcome to scuba board. Glad to see you. ~~~Babe~~~

Oh 1.5 hours is close compared to how far I have to drive here in Oklahoma :( but still if in the area of panama city a 1.5 hour drive is worth it for a full day of diving!
