Hi, I have only been diving a few times and mostly beach entry because charters can get costly. Anybody looking for a dive partner on a Saturday in Sarasota please send me a PM.
Also, I just purchased a kayak that I would like to use for diving. I am still looking around for ideas on how to mount accessories and stuff that I will need. The kayak, by the way, is a Ocean Kayak Scupper Pro TW.

Also interested in spear fishing and fishing from my kayak.

Welcome to the board!!!
I just got certified Sun so not too many ideas on mountings for the kayak (I have 1 of those as well).. Still trying to figure out how to get the motorcycle, kayak, and dive gear to the keys at one time...

If you haven't found it yet, you can try the tampabay area section..

welcome aboard

Welcome to ScubaBoard. My mom lives in Sarasota so I get there occasionally (not often enough) but usually don't bring my dive gear. Hope you find a buddy.

What's up. I too live in Sarasota, have just bought my first yak, but have been diving forever. I have an 11 year old and 13 year old sons who are also certified bubble blowers. We go to the Keys mostly, since I can get to Key Largo in 4 and 1/2 hours if I time my departure just right. But I want to get back into spearing. I have two custom guns, one is a Daryl Wong. My boys are not as keen about diving as I am. I like to dive in ideal conditions - seas 2 feet or less, good vis. If you are interested, let me know. I am an older diver, have been around the world following my passion, and hope to take my boys to Bonaire this X-mas break or next spring.

I have a speargun (AB Biller) but have never been before. It was a present that I would really like to use some time soon. I just went on a 3-tank charter last Saturday and it was a great trip. We saw a lot of grouper in the wrecks and a group of cobia on the way to the bottom of the first dive..

If you're riding the bike, you can get a trailer that will haul a kayak and gear. Look at Rack n Roll mini trailers, and similar ones by other mfgs. Can tow kayak from bike on trailer, with luggage box on trailer for gear (one side kayak, other side coffin style luggage box. It would set you back about 2 grand or so, but you could get it. You can rent everything in the Keys - yaks and scuba, so that would be far cheaper and easier. Good luck.

I'm trying to get a group of "regulars" for kayak diving and spearing in Sarasota area. This would be all ages, from teens to "mature" adults. I have run across another guy like me who has a teenage diver and himself. If your are interested in forming an informal group, or maybe even a more formal "kayak divers club', similar to what they did in Ft. Lauderdale (Kayuba is what they call themselves, they are on the net), then let me know. Kayak diving is fastest growing segment of diving.
