Hello Everyone,
I got my OW cert in Feb03, and had two dives since my training dives. I was working on my Masters, so a lot of things took a back seat. I'm done, and now it is time to play again. I was surfing around on the web and found the Scubaboard, and figured this looks like a good place to hang out. I'm really looking forward to getting back in the water, although it has been a while, and I might need a refresher before doing so.

I've been wanting to take an AOW, but figure I should get a few dives in before doing so. I can have three additional courses to include with my AOW, and was considering photography, wreck, and night.

I'm a bit unsure about night diving, but it sounds as if it could be interesting. Does anyone have anything to share about their night diving experiences? I'd be interested to hear them. Thanks in advance.

welcome!!
I'm moving to Eglin in about 2 weeks so I'll be right next door to you. I love night diving, you see a whole differant world at night. But wreck has to be my favorite. Let me know if you have any questions, I know I'll be looking for dive partners when I get to FL.

Thanks.

Eglin was my last assignment. We love the area, so when I got out this is where we hung our hats. I noticed on your profile you do a bit of wheeling too... A little bit off the subject of diving, but... I've got a 94' Cherokee w/6.5" lift and 35s...

When ya get here, look me up. Now that Im getting back into diving I'll be looking for dive partners as well.

There are several of us who dive around this area. We all enjoy meeting and diving with new folks. I've only been brave enough to night dive in Vortex spring so far - no bad beasts in there to eat me up :D.

Deffintly into 4 wheeling. 94 Jeep YJ 4inch lift 35inch tires, and just starting. I'll be looking for new buddies for that too.

Back to the topic of diving.......

"no bad beasts in there to eat me up"

Although I've thought night diving might be fun, this is definately a concern. Ya can't here the floor boards creaking when something is sneaking up on ya...

You just look for all the red eyes starring at you, welcome to ScubaBoard.

You're gonna have a pretty neatO shore dive in your backyard in the Destin Jetties. Like SeaYoda stated, a bunch of us SB'ers dive there pretty often, feel free to tag along anytime(you too knight!). Night dives are alotta fun, different creatures come out to play and looking up at the moon can be a pretty amazing experience from UW. It also heightens the need to keep an eye on your gas/depths(especially on ascents). Just remember fresh batteries for the lights ;)

Welcome to the board!
Night diving is great...go for it!

Glad to have you with us, and the refresher course or AOW would certainly be a good idea with so much dry time since certifying. Do your Nitrox with the AOW and save some money.

Night dives and wreck dives are both cool, and I use the same lights on both, so I got a BC that carries two 4-Cs lights and just leave them in there.
