I'm a warm water diver living in a cold water state. No cold water for me please.

About me:

I've been a Military Police Officer and then spent many years in the U.S. Coast Guard where I fell in love with the ocean. Now I'm a techi nerd in Michigan. Travelling allot really got me spoiled for warm water diving. I have gotten wet in many places before but the Caribbean seems to be my cup of tea. I just love it down there. The Caymen Islands is probably the best diving I've had so far. The North Wall dive off of Grand Caymen is a site to behold. One tradition I have on every tropical dive vacation I go on is that I take one whole day where I just park my butt in a hamock or under a grass cabana or something and sip on tropical drinks and do absolutely nothing but veg for the day. With the high strees lives we live I feel that day is a must for me. No phones, no dives, no cars, no busses, no beepers, etc... just relax that day. I'm currently undecided on my vacation this year but I've been eyeballing that Bonaire trip in Sept. that some of this boards members are going on. Being a single traveler it helps to go with groups and meet new people. Makes the trips much more fun. :)

Anyway, I'm glad I found the MB. Looks like allot of good info and people here.

Glad to have you aboard. I hope you enjoy the board as much as I do.

I look forward to reading about your experiences.

welcome to the board. If you reconsider that cold water diving thing, Michigan has EXCELLENT wreck diving. Besides summer water temps get as high as 72-74 degrees:jester:

Yeah I agree with Rooster.. It can get rather warm there..

I gotta try it one day.

Cold is all a relative term.... Now 30F that's cold to me, even when the water is in the 40s, I still think it's cold. However, 50 and above... lead me to the water.

Ok maybe I'm pushing it, but heck, if you're not willing to visit the u/w world when the water is in the 50s... your dive season up here would be very short.

.... now there's something I like doing!

Don't be shy, come north and dive with folks who know how to really enjoy the water.:D

Welcome to the boards!!

My wife likes the warm water too!

But she's going to try the cold!! :)

Enjoy!! we'll see you 'round the boards!!

Welcome aboard. We have quite a few from Michigan on this board with divers from the UP to the Ohio line. Hope you enjoy the reading. By the way, I am also one who loves the cold water diving and wrecks here in Michigan. But the warm water sure has its advantages.

Welcome to the scuba board from Texas. Your right about the diving in Cayman Islands. I have been there and it's the best
diving around. Hope you enjoy the scuba board. The people are
wonderful on here.

Upon further review I realize I may have been a little hasty in my judgement of not diving in cold water. I've been reading through a book called Best Great Lake Shipwrecks by Chris Kohl and well I may just have to give it a go sometime. I guess there is a drysuit in my future. :)
