Hello everyone. I am new here and I really don't know much about scuba diving nor have I ever been exploring underwater. I understand that there are a lot of lakes in my area that are situated on top of old towns. Kentucky is also notorious for caves. I am very interested in learning about any scuba diving programs in my area and I would love to find some photos of any town remnants underwater. I went on vacation to Lake Cumberland in Ky. this past week and if anyone's interested , I think that would be a great place to explore.

Aloha and welcome to the board! This is a great place to learn and meet new dive buddies.

Welcome to ScubaBoard!

Ask around in the Kentucky Piranha Patrol forum and I bet you'll be able to find some great advice on who to get certified with, so that you can get started.

Don't forget to fill out your profile, so that we can add context to your future posts. Also, once we know where you are geographically, you may find that you'll have a whole bunch of new dive buddies to choose from locally once you are certified.

Dive safe!

Welcome to scubaboard missturbo. Lake Cumberland is indeed an interesting place to dive as are Laurel Lake and even some of the quarries can be fun and very useful for training and practice. There are several dive shops in Ky. Let us know what part of the state you are in and we might be able to tell you who is in your area.

The are some very small towns that were covered up when the lakes were created. Mostly you will find road beds and some foundations to buildings.
