I ask because it seems that Japan seems to have a very active manufacturing and sales industry regards UW photography and what seems to be a massive amount of uw photgraphers
I was invited to an Olympus 'Sales Education' meeting the other day on behalf of my LDS. Olympus has started very aggressive marketing, especially the UW sector in Australia, and from the looks of things, worldwide. I met the product manager for UWP equipment and he was saying that there are about 1m scuba divers in Japan and they have a lot of influence on their development.
Got to 'fondle' and take pictures with an E1 there :)

I'm living in Japan also but normally dive in the Philippines. Nice to see I'm not alone in that regard.

Here is shot from a night dive in Anilao, taken on a barge. Sea & Sea CX-600 housing, Canon EOS Kiss (I think it's called a Rebel in the states). Full auto, ASA 100 Fuji film.

By the way, this housing with strobe arms and dual YS-120 strobes plus spotter light and macro ring, I would like to sell... anyone know what I should price it at? Minus camera. Have new housing o-ring kit not installed as well.

Philippine Dive....Welcome. Great picture!

When you get a good idea of what to charge for your camera, remember that Scubaboard doesn't allow the selling of items within the regular forums.

All items offered for sale have to go through the boards Classified section, Aquatrader. When you list your add, a post in General Offers Forum will be automatically generated for you.

If I can help in any way, please PM me.

Thanks for the warm welcome all.

I use a Cybershot. Ninety-nine percent of the time no flash. Mostly a video light. Only problems i have had were forgetting to format the stick in my Mac after erasing it?

Shots badly missed were a blue ring octopus last New Year on a night dive.

Light went through it like a jelly and flashed back its rings like a mirror. Should have gone into video mode.

What with that and the whale shark five minutes from my front door I can hardy complain about this year. Best news i have really got is read and weep stuff. I am moving there for good in 2006

Hi,

I completely agree with Norman, you just have to avoid being careless as anywhere in the world. I lived in Mindanao during for at least 2 years (2000 -2002) and there are some fantastic dives there. . . and of course, safe. Let me know if you are interested and I can email you the best and professional dive operators in Mindanao. You can contact them directly or browse their webpage. It is a place not so many divers are fortunate to dive because of unfounded "fears".
