Hey man, I'm a NOLA native myself (transplanted to Texas in '99). :D

Where are you planning on diving out there?

I'm not sure if I'd dive in that lake, maybe on the North shore.

Just curious. :)
 
I live near Hammond LA.

There are the rigs off the coast for some good spearfishing.
Lots of blacktips and bull sharks in the lake and most just freedive in there.
I also know of a good gravel pit pond the water gets pretty clear in some times of the year and gets about 32feet deep.
 
I probly won't be doing a whole lot of diving around here. I know a few people that spearfish in the lake but recently one speared a bull shark! I'm working on getting all my gear and will hopefully have it all in the next few weeks.

jwelch 81 I never thought about gravel pits! I know where a few are.....might have to look into that.
